The Dread Miracle (Chapters One and Two) © Bob Papp 2026
Given the ability to perform just one miracle, what would you do?
For Carrol, the answer to that question is irrelevant. What matters most to him is simply proving miracles are possible. His lifelong obsession ultimately leads him to a dodgy talisman bought in an online auction. Improvising a ritual to release its supposed power, he expects to be venerated by everyone who has ridiculed him in the past. Instead, he inadvertently sends his closest friend to the bottom of the river, rouses a recluse sorceress, and touches off a growing catastrophe.
Proving miracles are possible was never enough. Now, he must prevent one from reaching fruition.
I have a few other novels that are brewing in various states. Mostly there are beginnings, with just the leading chapters drafted and not in a condition yet to post anything here. They include the following.
A Day at the Breach © Bob Papp 2026
Edgar always fancied time travel stories until the day his battle-hardened science genius future self from an alternate timeline pops into his apartment and calls him a fucking idiot. When the guy vanishes, two techno-thugs burst in and grab present-day Edgar, mistaking him for his asshole future self. They haul him to a top-secret research lab, babbling information the whole way. Now, as Edgar stands on a buzzing platform in his sweatpants, clutching his bologna sandwich, their words sink in:
We're sending you back 3 billion years....time breach ripping reality apart....you have to stop it before it begins.
"No, wait," he says as the lead scientist pulls the lever. "You got the wrong Edgar."
The Peril of Aertu © Bob Papp 2026
In a sparsely populated land where magic is feared and forbidden, a courier who makes runs between settlements discovers a deep-running conspiracy concealing the true history of the world. Hunted by those who would keep their secrets, he must rouse support to defend against an even greater danger, the world's ancient terror reborn.
Flaherty Finds a Way or The Repudiation Vaccination © Bob Papp 2026
Levi Flaherty has always seen Things that aren't really there. Mostly, he tries to ignore them and hopes they'll leave him alone. But it's hard having a normal conversation over lunch when he knows the ketchup bottle is really a red-hatted gnome....
When Flaherty inherits his parents' sprawling Victorian mansion, Things start coming out of the woodwork. Worse than that, they start turning up dead or, as they call it, Normal. As Flaherty is drawn into their plight, he must confront the truth of his own ability, and the frightening reality that threatens them all.
